Announcing new International Creative Teacher Summer School

International Creative Teacher – Summer School

Newcastle, England – 29 to 31 August 2018

This intensive and immersive three-day summer school is designed for teachers, educators and creative practitioners from around the world who want to deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge of creativity, creative learning and using the arts across the curriculum.

Challenging and inspiring in equal measure this training will equip you to develop new or enrich your existing creative learning practice and projects for schools or in the community.

Based on CCE’s renowned and globally tested approaches, you will explore the philosophy and principles of creative learning as well as develop strategies and gain the skills to devise and deliver creative approaches within the curriculum and for the learners in your setting.

Course Outline

This course is ideal for you if you are seeking inspiration and time to focus, and to explore and develop your learning and teaching practice.

It will build your knowledge to plan and produce effective ideas for delivering creative learning in your setting.  It will explore theories and principles that can inform your approach to creativity and using the creative process to enliven the curriculum, creative learning planning or education programmes for which you are responsible.

It will help you think about the tools and resources you have at your disposal and how to deploy these creatively, including your own innate passions and talents.

It will show you how creativity can help children, especially those in disadvantaged communities or who experience marginalisation, engage and excel and, with time, impact positively on confidence, esteem and the enjoyment of learning through life.

Using the stimulus of CCE signature themes, including the creative habits of mind, high-functioning learning environments and how creativity positively impacts on the executive functions of the brain, we will use examples of our work worldwide, through Creative Partnerships and the Art of Learning to illustrate the potential of this work for your teaching and learning practice.

You will evidence your learning for validation back home through use of a reflective learning journal, a personal development plan and reference to your active involvement in dialogue and discourse throughout the course.

The course will be taught in English and is a step on the training pathways towards CCE’s specialist online and blended learning programme called Partnerships in Creative Learning.

“Our summer school is a highly practical workshop series designed to create the space for you to reflect on and develop your personal practice. By building your understanding of the research which underpins creative learning and accessing a wide range of international ideas and examples you will be ready to deploy new ideas in your classroom as soon as schools return.  I am looking forward to working with a group of dynamic and questioning practitioners and seeing how we can support each other in this intensive and immersive context.”  Paul Collard
