Korean Teacher Exchange Programme

CCE was commissioned by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEST) in South Korea, working via Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), to manage a teachers’ exchange programme between the UK and South Korea.

CCE hosted the first cohort of ten South Korean secondary school teachers in early 2013 with a further 15 South Korean teachers visiting and working in schools in the North East of England in early 2014. On both occasions, CCE was responsible for recruiting host schools in the region including a strong cohort of schools who were previously involved in Creative Partnerships. They were also responsible for organising the logistics of the teachers’ stay and their pastoral care.

Alongside this, CCE arranged a comprehensive programme of induction, masterclasses on creative learning, reflection sessions and arranged a number of visits to key cultural institutions. The learning of the South Korean teachers was supported by CCE’s innovative online learning platform which set assignments and monitored their progress in implementing creative lessons in their host schools.

Both exchange programmes were completed by a three-week visit by UK teachers to South Korea and it has led to a wider understanding of the application of creativity within schools in both the UK and South Korea.
