ARTS COUNCIL OF IRELAND COMMISSIONS CCE TO LEAD ON CREATIVE SCHOOLS
The Arts Council of Ireland has announced the appointment of the international foundation Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE) as project lead for their new Creative Schools programme.
The Creative Schools programme is a central strand in Creative Ireland, the Irish Government’s five-year, cross departmental initiative which places creativity at the centre of public policy. One pillar of the strategy is dedicated to children and young people, and the Creative Schools programme stands at the centre of it.
CCE will head up a unit also comprising two education advisers, Laura Keogh and Ross Curran, who have been seconded to the team by the Department of Education and Skills.
“We are delighted to have secured the services of CCE for this important initiative. We are determined to ensure that the Creative Schools programme has the resources to empower schools to place the arts and creativity at the centre of school life, and CCE’s international experience and expertise is key to helping the Arts Council to realise this ambition” said Orlaith McBride, Director of the Arts Council.
Paul Collard, CEO of CCE added: “We have been inspired by the vision and aspiration of both the Arts in Education Charter and the Creative Ireland Strategy and so to have the opportunity to be part of their implementation is very exciting for us.”
Further detail about the programme will be made available when the children and young people’s pillar is formally launched later in November.
