In 2011 Paul Collard was commissioned by the Commissioner for Children and Young People in Western Australia to undertake a two week visit to explore how the creativity of children and young people in Western Australia could be unlocked.

The programme included facilitated conversations with a variety of groups such as artists and cultural institutions, representatives of the creative industries, leaders of the indigenous communities, ministers and officials in the departments of Education and Culture and private sector leaders. There was also an extensive programme of workshops with children and young people.

In 2012 and 2015, Paul Collard spent time in Perth Western Australia working with the Western Australia Museum (WAM) exploring how to embed creativity and creative learning in the design and delivery of the new museum. A report on the conclusions reached in one of these visits is available here.

In 2016, Paul Collard will undertake a four week residency at the Tram Shed in Perth, This historical building is being converted into a new cultural venue by Perth’s leading visual arts agency, FORM. The residency, which is supported by the Department of Culture and Arts of Western Australia, will be developing new classroom practices which use the arts to improve the learning of children and young people. Joining Paul Collard in the residency will be artists Paul Gorman and Yaminay Nasir Chaudhri both of whom have worked with CCE in the past.
